Lizzy had been admitted in a local hospital near her home on Vancouver Island (BC, Canada) for an unexpected surgery in the second week of March, and although the surgery itself initially seemed to have been succesful, she encountered serious problems in the following weeks.
Both her and her medical team fought as hard as they could to overcome these problems, but just after midnight on Monday, April 26 2010 Lizzy passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 68.

Lizzy joined us only 5 days after the launch of Stoma-Innovation By You.
We got to know her as a most wonderful, friendly and cheerful lady who always had a kind word for anyone. In just over a year she posted 823 messages and with that number of messages we can honestly call her one of the core members of our community.
Many of those were about life with an ostomy in general, in reply to other people's questions or just to share a story of her own.
She also shared some of her "Oscar and Willy"- stories, about her 2 ostomies that she had named Oscar and Willy.

Besides that she also contributed some really good ideas to many challenges and contest that we had on this website. She had a wonderful way of describing her solution, and was a wizard with image editing software that she used to sketch her inventions.
With several ideas she won a prize for the best idea!
Another big contribution Lizzy made, and that we are very grateful for, was her help to create a tutorial to use sketching software that is posted through the Innovation School section.

Lizzy, we will miss you, but we will never forget you!

On behalf of Coloplast, the other admins and all members of SIBY I offer our deepest condolences to her husband Rick and their family and friends.

Dear members,

Please feel free to use this section to share your memories about Lizzy, or to say goodbye to her.

I will copy all relevant entries from her personal folder into this section as well, and I was thinking that we could send the messages in here to her husband as a final greeting from her virtual friends.

Thanks,
bert

Lizzy,

I know you're in a better place now, free from pain...  And I have no doubt that St. Peter has already admitted you through the Pearly Gates, if only so as to get on to the others after you...

Your heartfelt initiatives, your free-flowing, giving commentaries and your compassionate, caring posts brightened this forum and will live on as your legacy.  Throughout, your sense of humour prevailed.  You've taught many of us and, perhaps, me especially, that it's really all about support and nurturing; innovations are but one means toward accomplishing that.

You've shown us that in adversity there is opportunity, that we should always believe that life's challenges can be overcome and that clouds do have silver linings.

You will be missed.  Rest well.

Condolences to your family and many friends.

Ileoguy

God saw you getting tired, and a cure ws not to be,
So he put his arms around you, and whispered 'come to me'
A Golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest,
God's garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best.
I was so priveliged to have encountered you Lizzy and you taught me so much, my thoughts are with Rick and all your many friends,
Dolly

I am sorry, as a relatively new member, not to have got to know you better, but I do know that you will be sorely missed.  Rest in peace, Lizzy.
